XBox One and PC Gaming, Encryption
Microsoft has announced intentions to make it easier for users of its Xbox One console to play multiplayer games with PC gamers. For ages, multiplayer gaming has been largely segregated between console users and PC users, forming a batter that made it either extremely difficult or impossible for players on one platform to play with players from another.
Titles like Rocket League, which are known for being platform agnostic, have helped to pave the way for a new way of thinking on this subject by console and PC game developers.
In response to Apple’s stance against creating a backdoor for law enforcement to decrypt devices powered by iOS: Facebook, Google, and WhatsApp have decided to increase their use of encryption on their own respective platforms.
There is no word yet on exactly when or how these improvements will take shape, but it is certainly a step forward that privacy advocates have long been waiting for.
